Friday, September 26, 2008
The four police officers attached to the Bundung Police Station, who are accused of helping 11 prisoners to escape from custody on September 11, 2008, have pleaded not guilty. They entered their plea before Senior Magistrate Kumba Sillah -Camara of the Bundung Magistrates Court.

When the case was called, one of the defence counsel, Kebba Sanyang, on behalf of his learned partner, Lawyer Assan A Martin, appealed to be given time to prepare for the case. He further urged the court to grant the four accused persons bail.

Senior Magistrate Kumba Sillah-Camara approved the defence counsel's application  and granted the four accused persons bail in the sum of D100,000, with one Gambian surety each. Each surety must also sign an affidavit of means and furnish the court with a reachable contact address.

The case was adjourned to October 15 for the prosecutor to open his case.
ASP Camara represented the IGP.
