What's on: Nancy Nanz: Busy working on new album

After the successful release of her debut CD album - Xalel - The Gambia's young female Mbalax star, Nancy Nanz is now set for real business.

She is currently busy writing songs for her second album. Her sensational career in music dates back to her childhood.

Recorded at the 1000 Melodies Studio in Dakar, Xalel is an 8-track CD.
With the little experience she earned in the production of her debut album, Nancy now stands a good chance to excel in the international music market.

In an exclusive interview with What's On, yesterday, Nancy Nanz said that her last album portrayed a positive message useful to the youths of today.

"The success of this album is just great and I still receive phone calls from my fans abroad talking about the well composed nature of the album. It sold a lot of copies and did extremely well in the market. However, piracy is one of the factors affecting us as young artists," she said.

The sprouting star further told What's On, that she is also doing a lot of selections for DVD shootings.
"I hope to release my DVD any time soon and I think this will be a big plus for me as a young artist. Music is expensive and has a lot of expenses, so you need to be prepared for it," she added.

Asked about the state of preparedness of her next album, Nancy said "I am fully prepared because I want to make this coming album one of the best ever. It will also help me a lot as I have already covered some of the loopholes or lapses I had during the making of my debut album. In other words, I know the market now and my second album will be something I will be well prepared for," she maintained.

She emphasised the need for her to introduce live band performances and do away with the playback system.

"Though many people believe Gambian artists are not creative, we can do it as we have a lot of stars who are excelling in the sector," she said.

And guess what? A high quality club situated at Denton Bridge and awaiting official launching was named after the and is called Nancy Images.
"This new entertainment spot will be the venue where I will hold my future shows and concerts," she said.

Watch out for her shows after Koriteh. Meanwhile, the What's On anchorman will like to extend his regards and wish Nancy Nanz a happy birthday in advance. She will celebrate her birthday on October 2nd 2008.
