Allow me space in your widely read newspaper to echo the words of the various teams participating in the ongoing tournament at the Serrekunda East, organised by the Serrekunda East Sports Development Organisation.

It is obvious that this annual competition champions the objective of the GFA, which is to develop our beloved sport (football) from the grassroots level. But it's rather unfortunate that this cause is being jeopardised by a very poor and partial organisation.
 To be specific, the tournament has been characterised by unacceptable developments detrimental to sport development.

This year's tournament has seen very poor games, less goals and suspension of a lot of players through bookings. The average game time is maximum 70 minutes as 90% of the games played don't exceed 75 minutes, full-time.

The most paramount ethics of refereeing is neutrality, but to the dismay of most football lovers, referees at SEYDO are seen deliberately taking sides, and moreover the organisers fail to realise this, though the success of the game absolutely involves good judgment on the pitch. And the referees are to be professionals too.

Therefore, for the betterment of the game and in the interest of our nation at large, Nawettan centers need to double up and keep up to standard as required by the rules of the game.
