Gambia's two-goal hero Njogu Demba did not hide his delight after ending his Scorpions goal drought in a fascinating style.

Demba scored a brace and set up another to help Gambia beat Liberia 3-0 on Saturday in the joint 2010 World Cup and Nations Cup qualifier at the Independence Stadium.

The 29-year-old SK Brann forward was widely cristised by the Gambia fans for his lack of scoring, even though his performance in the Scorpions front line has been brilliant since he started starring for Gambia in 2007.

Now the former Panathinaikos striker who is well known for his stylistic way of play is happy that the goal drought has ended.

"I know that I owe the Gambian fans some goals and I am happy that the goals started coming when they were needed most," elated Demba told Observer Sports shortly after Saturday's match.

"I will first of all thank Almighty Allah for my goals and my team-mates as well, and I hope to score more goals for Gambia."

The Gambia will take on neighbours, Senegal in the final qualifier match with both sides in dire need of the points, and Demba believes the decisive fixture in October is a do-or-die affair for the Scorpions.

"We have to prepare against Senegal because we all need the points. It's a do-or-die affair and with enough preparation we have what it takes to win the fixture," he concluded.
