24 police officers certificatedTuesday, August 31, 2010 Twenty-four officers of The Gambia Police Force were on
Friday awarded certificates by the Pristine Consulting, after undergoing a
two-week intensive training on custom service and computer skills training, at
a ceremony held at the police headquarters in Banjul. Speaking at the end of the training, Yankuba Sonko, the inspector general of Police, explained that the training will not only help the police officers in the Gambis project but also in tracking down criminal activities. He said as the world is moving very fast, the police offiers also need to move along with the world. IGP Sonko added that the database on the national documents will help them effectively carry out their duties. He expressed confidence in the officers and urged them to redouble their efforts and perform as expected. "In performance of your duties, you need to be honest," he pointed out whilst stressing that dishonesty and corruption will not be tolerated and that they will do everything possible to discourage them. Ya Amie AB Njie, the human resources manager at Pristine Consulting, said that the police are partners in nation building, whilst describing the training as very important to the officers. According to her, 18 out of the 24 officers who were trained will be deployed to the Gambis project. Madam Njie then commended the officers for the hardwork and dedication during the training. She also applauded The Gambia Police Force for their support and cooperation in the exercise. Mustapha Njie, the Gambis project manager of Pristine Consulting, stated that technology is vital to the security personnel and expressed delight at working with The Gambia Police Force.
