2km road rehabilitated in NianiWednesday, August 08, 2012 Three communities in Niani District in Central River Region (CRR) north recently embarked on a 2km road rehabilitation. Speaking shortly after the exercise, the alkalo of Niani Sukuta, Alhaji Jay Kanteh commended the youth of the communities for their high turnout and active participation in the exercise. He pointed out that the road was badly damaged by last year’s rains, thus making access to their rice difficult. He applauded the youth for their efforts in taking part in national development, saying that youths are the backbone of the country. The alkalo of Barajally Tenda, Basadu Jawara spoke at length on the importance of farming, noting that the exercise would complement government’s efforts towards road construction. He called on the youth in the area to maintain the unity and cooperation existing among them and also redouble their efforts in participating in national development. Lamin Kenteng Ceesay, a youth leader, assured of their readiness to contribute to national development as they serve as the pillars of the society. He said government alone cannot do it all, while calling on others to emulate the youth of the three communities. He noted that farmers in the region are responding positively to the president’s ‘back-to-the-land’ clarion call. Author: Lamin SM Jawa in CRR | Media Actions See Also |
