Bojang on Wednesday appeared before Magistrate Nkea of Brikama Magistrates Court,
charged with stealing contrary to Section 252 of the Criminal Code. According to the particulars of the offence, the three accused persons, on 3rd August 2010 at Busumbala Village in Kombo North, Western Region, jointly stole a bag containing the following items: Gambian Passport No. 255212 bearing the name of Seedia Touray, cash amount of €1075, CFA1000, two Nokia phones worth D4000, 3 T-shirts valued at D225, four pairs of trousers valued at D500, 4m of tie and dye cloth costing D600, three pairs of male suit costing D1,050 and a testimonial of Kunta Kinteh Senior Secondary School bearing the name of Seedia Touray, all being properties of the said Seedia Touray. The first and second accused denied the charges while the third accused pleaded guilty, and told the court that they all committed the offence. At this juncture, Sergeant 413 Sanyang revealed the facts of the charge pertaining to the 3rd accused, stating that it happened on the 3rd of August 2010 around 10-11am, when the 3rd accused and two others jumped over the fence of a compound called Saidy Kunda, entered a room through the back door and picked a black bag containing the listed items. Sergeant Sanyang further revealed that they took the said items to an uncompleted house, where they (the accused persons) shared the items. He said Sanna Bojang was given €310, 1 Nokia phone, and the bag was also left with him. According to Sergeant Sanyang, a search was conducted in the neighbourhood and the said mobile was called and it was received by the 3rd accused who was then arrested and taken to New Yundum Police Station where a Nokia mobile phone was recovered from him. The police prosecutor then applied for an adjournment to enable him bring the said phone to the court. The accused persons were granted bail in the sum of D500, 000 and one Gambian surety each.
