Alhaji Dr. Yahya AJJ Jammeh has effected three cabinet appointments with effect
from yesterday, Monday, 6th February 2012. According to a media release from State House, Dr Mamadou
Tangara, Dr. Mariama Sarr Ceesay and Abdou Kolley have been reappointed into Cabinet. The full text of the release reads: His Excellency The President of the Republic of The Gambia Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr. Yahya A.J.J Jammeh, acting under the provisions of Sections 70(1), 70(3), 71(1) and 71(3) respectively, of the constitution of the Republic of The Gambia has effected the following cabinet appointments with effect from today 6th February 2012. Dr. Mamadou Tangara as Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Corporation and Gambians Abroad; Mr Abdou Kolley as Minister of Fisheries and Water Resources; Dr. Mariama Sarr Ceesay as Minister of Higher Education, Research Science and Technology. The release ends Background The three appointees were all members of the last cabinet
which was dissolved last Thursday. Out of the three, only Abdou Kolley changed
portfolio. Dr Mamadou Tangara’s first Cabinet appointment was in
February 2010,as Minister of
Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology, the position he held until
June 2010. He was then reassigned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,
International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad as minister from June 7th 2010 to
February 2nd 2012, when the previous Cabinet was dissolved. Abdou Kolley’s first Cabinet appointment was in February
2007. He has served on three different times as Minister of Trade, Industry and
Employment– February 2007-June 2009; March 2010 - July 2010 andJanuary 2011 to February 2nd 2012. He
also served twice as Minister of Finance from June 2009 to March 2010 and July
