4 arraigned for obstructing police officersWednesday, September 12, 2012 Four persons, namely, Muhammed Nyassi, Modou Lamin Bah, Sambou Jobarteh and Richard Jassey were on Tuesday September 11th 2012, arraigned before the Bundung Magistrates’ Court presided over by Magistrate Landing M. Sanneh. The accused persons are charged with one count of obstructing police officers while on due executions of their duties contrary to Section 230(B) of the Criminal Code Cap 10 Vol III Laws of The Gambia. The particulars of offence revealed that 2nd September 2012 at Fajikunda in the Kanifing Municipality, the four accused jointly unlawfully obstructed the following police officers; Cpl Mustapha Cham, PC Lamin Sonko and Alhagie Njie while effecting an arrest, thereby committed an offence. When the matter as read, all the accused persons pleaded not guilty. The prosecutor, Sgt 2250 Bobb, who stood for the IGP, applied for an adjournment to call his witness to testify in court.
