400 opposition supporters defect to APRC - Says Kiang Central constituency secretary

Africa » Gambia
Friday, July 10, 2009
Fabakary Drammeh, the APRC constituency secretary for Kiang Central, has revealed that about 400 supporters of the UDP/NRP opposition parties, have defected to the APRC party during a mass political rally held in Kwnella, Kiang Central District, last month.

According to him, these groups of people have shown interest in the APRC party and are ready to work for the development and progress of the country. He said that the defectors also pledged their support to the APRC under the Jammeh administration.

The constituency secretary made this revelation during a meeting held at Tendaba, presided over by the minister of Fisheries,Water Resources and National Matters, who also doubles as the APRC party's national mobiliser, as part of his familiarisation tour of institutions and projects under his purview.

Minister Antouman Saho's delegation including the APRC general secretary and the permanent secretary of Fisheries and Water Resources and the Directors of Water Resources, yesterday, held a meeting at Tendaba, Jarra Soma and Jarreng village in CRR South. Highlights of these meetings will be published in our  Monday edition.
