Victoria Teaching Hospital (RVTH), the patient, Omar Jobe, was born with an
anorectal anomaly which manifested as an imperforate anus. An intervention was
made for a temporary palliative colostomy, after he was reviewed by the
paediatric surgical team. On evaluation, he was seen with an imperforate anus
and a functional colostomy. The report added that the passage managed is stocked and an
urgent overseas surgery is required for the operation to be carried out in the
imperforated anus for the proper passage of excretes.In this respect, the report noted that he will need an
abroad radiological study of genitor-urinary tracts with an intravenous to
reduce any relevant genitor-urinary tract anomaly achieving a definitive
surgical anoplasty. Speaking to the Daily Observer, Nato Jadama, the patient’s mother, lamented that her son experienced series of discriminations from his peers which made him isolated.
