50-year-old Turk found dead

Monday, September 14, 2009
Serif Iseri, a Turkish national who is said to be  50-years-old, was on Monday morning found dead in his house behind Pipeline mosque.

According to his business partner, Cerigizham Sahim while relating the information to Daily Observer, the deceased was found dead in his bedroom, and that it was suspected that he must have been stabbed to death. He said that the incident happened on Saturday evening while he was out of the country, but it could be only realised on Monday morning by the security guard who normally do not work on Sundays. He said when the security guard came on Monday morning he noticed that the glasses of the windows were broken  and then immediately reported the matter to Kairaba Police Station, whose officials came  only to find the man dead.

Sahim further revealed that he and the deceased are here in the country to establish a vegetable garden business and aim to create employment for the Gambian youths. He added that the incident is an unfortunate scenario, since before coming to the country they made a thorough research on the internet and had learnt a lot about The Gambia, which is known to be a peaceful country over the world. He expressed his wish to still continue investing in his proposed business despite the ugly scenario. He further narrated that the deceased's properties  (his phone and money) were all found under his pillow, and that the reason  he was killed  is unknown to him.

When contacted, Sulayman Secka, the police Pubic Relation officer, confirmed the incident and added that four suspects were  arrested and one was charged as the actual offender. The suspects who are said to be all Gambians are helping the police in their investigations.
