Angola for trying to leave the country with a cash amount of US$7M have been released from jail. Confirming the release of the seven men, Haji Jawara, honorary Gambian consul general in Angola said: “The seven Gambians have been released after a long period of negotiation with the Angolan government.” It would be recalled that in December 2011, the Daily Observerreported that seven Gambians were arrested at Luanda International Airport while trying to leave Angola for China for a business trip with US$7million. Boat accident Concerning a boat accident in Angola that claimed the lives of 49 West African nationals, Jawara said it is not clear whether Gambians are among those who lost their lives in the accident.
