Accused to open defence in defilement caseFriday, June 19, 2009 Bakary Keita, a resident of Nema Kunku will on Tuesday June 30, 2009, open his defence in the ongoing defilement case against him before Acting Principal Magistrate Kumba Sillah-Camara of the Bundung Magistrates Court. Bakary Keita is standing trial for defilement of a young girl in Nema kunku, a charge he denies. Police Prosecutor Corporal Sambou had earlier on told the court that the prosecution had closed its case thus warranting the court to adjourn the case for the accused to open his defence on June 15. But when the case resumed yesterday, Bakary Keita informed the court that his Counsel Lawyer Lamin Mboge was not in court and that he would like to open his defence in his presence. Magistrate Kumba Sillah-Camara then reminded the accused that he should be in touch with his lawyer to make sure he comes to court, "since you paid him to come to court". She told him that the case will proceed with or without his counsel on the next adjournment date, which is schedule for June 30. Author: by Salifu M Touray | Media Actions See Also |
