The manager at the Brikama community radio station, Aji Jarra AK Sanneh, has commended Action Aid and other organisations in the country for their contribution towards the improvement of her radio station.

In an interview with the Daily Observer in Brikama last Monday, the manager of the station said when she took over the management of the station  a few years  ago, the station was in a difficult  condition, but thanked ActionAid for providing the relevant equipment. She said "now the station can receive signal up to Banjul and other surrounding areas".  Sanneh said since the radio stationstarted receiving signal in far places, Gamcel, Africell, Comium and Qcell are all bringing  adverts for the station. Sanneh expressed her appreciation to these companies and appealed to other companies to emulate them."

She revealed that all the people who are working at the station are doing  it on voluntary basis. She then lamented the fact that the station is a community based station; thus is met with stiff competion in terms of  adverts with other commercial stations. However, Sanneh said when she and her team took over the management, they improved all the programmes and raised funds to fence the station's compound to enhace security. The station's manager further revealed that the station was set-up by women within the community of Brikama in a bid to advocate women's development among other things.
