ADEVEKAH assists KMC disaster victims

African Dutch Association ((ADEVEKAH), an association formed by Gambians based in Germany Thursday donated clothes and shoes todisaster victims in the Kanifing Municipal Council.
The items were handed over to Yankuba Colley, the mayor of KMC at a ceremony held at Kanifing Estate Community Centre. The presentation ceremony was witnessed by officials of the KMC Disaster Management Committee, and the councilor of Old Jeshwang Constituency, Sherrif Sarr, among others.
Speaking at the event, Yankuba Colley, the mayor of KMC, said there are many Gambian associations in Germany but a thing like this is the first of its kind. He thanked them for the donation and prayed for the Almighty Allah to reward them.
Binta Sey-Jadama, KMC disaster coordinator expressed appreciation for the gesture. She explained that their role as a disaster committee is to ensure that all gifts given to them reach the right beneficiaries.She also urged other associations abroad to emulate the African Dutch Association.
Sulayman Ndow, a member of ADEVEKAH, said the items are
meant to help the disaster committee of the KMC, adding that it could be extended
to other councils across the country. “We want to contribute our quota to our
country that is why we came up with this imitative,” he added.
Sherrif Sarr, councilor of Old Jeshwang Ward, said the donation is a step in the right direction; while urging others to emulate ADEVEKAH. Other speakers included Musa Mendy, the chairman of KMC Disaster Management Committee and Alhagie Ndongo, member of ADEVEKAH.
