A two-day advocacy strategy skills and methodology plans training, organised by the Association of Non-Governmental Organisations,in partnership with Concern Universal (CU), recently concluded at the Trans-Gambia Lodge in Pakalinding village, Jarra West District of the Lower River region.

Speaking at the occasion, TANGO’s programme officer for training Pabu Sarr, explained that the initiative was meant to build the capacity of their partners and members on advocacy strategy skills and methodology, adding that the training being the second of its kind, was targeting participants country wide.

He disclosed that the training will not only enable the participants to share knowledge and experience, but will also enable them to contribute and influence policy formulation with a view to address the mix of their institution and community at large. Sarr went on to thank Concern Universal for their partnership with TANGO, while commending the United Nations Democracy Fund for funding the training.

For his part, the head of Policy and Advocacy at the Action Aid International The Gambia, Lamin Nyangadou, described the subject matter as very important, noting that it would help participants to have a better understanding on advocacy skills and strategy methodology. He went on to enjoin the participants to implement what they acquired from the training to their various work places so as to enable the Gambia and its people to move forward for the betterment of all.

The director of Freedom From Hunger Campaign (FFHC), Alpha Kah, for his part, thanked TANGO and Concern Universal for coming up with this initiative to build their capacity and advocacy strategy skills and methodology planning. He described the initiative as not only timely, but also very important in the sense that it would go a long way to help them improve on their work. He finally assured them that the knowledge and skills acquired from the training will be put into practice.
