African arts collector on research projectsMonday, September 14, 2009 Kabully Nimaga, Director General (DG) of the African Arts Collection (AAC), located right opposite the LK Upper Basic School, recently left The Gambia for the USA on more research into his work. The African Arts Collection was established some years ago in The Gambia and it has registered numerous development projects in the areas of arts and culture and related fields. The African Arts Collection established a school, which registered significant number of students drawn from Serre-kunda and Kumbija in Basse, the birth place of Kabully Nimaga. It could be recalled that Nimaga had an exclusive interview with Hassan Haruni of the BBC during the 2001 presidential elections held in The Gambia. In a recent chat with the Arts and Culture, Kabully Nimaga, spoke about his proposed trip to the USA, to make research on arts and culture in The Gambia, Africa and the world at large. He stressed the importance of acquiring knowledge in this planet and the need to re-connect people of the world to their traditional and cultural norms, especially people of Africa. The African Arts Collection boss predicted that the world will reap the benefit of his work in the next 100 years.
