Africell gives over D2M to subscribers: As its Xtreme Bonanza promotion ends

Thursday, May 10, 2012

Africell, a leading GSM operator has concluded ‘Xtreme Bonanza’, its much talked about promotion in town, which began on 1st April 2012 at a live presentation programme held on GRTS last Tuesday night.

During the period, the promotion drew the public to an incredible life changing experience with extraordinary cash prizes of more than D2 million. This uniquely structured promotion was designed to increase the chances of all Africell subscribers. Hence, every two weeks, a set of new series was drawn from which lucky winners were selected through a raffle draw held live on GRTS TV.

Anchored by Peter Braima, Africell’s senior media supervisors and Agnes Lopez, communications coordinator of Africell, the promotion sparked immense excitement across the nation as the entire country geared up for the much awaited grand raffle draw of D850, 000 in which one Abubacarr Bah of Bullock, Omar Sarr of Mbolet-Bah and Fatou Sanyang of Farato became winners and went home with D500, 000, D250, 000, and D100, 000 respectively.

In addition to the above grand prizes, 12 other lucky winners were presented with D50, 000 each during the course of the month of April. Also as part of the promotion, Africell went the extra mile to give 100 winners a mobile phone each and free Africell credit. This is a major increase as compared to the five winners who were given the same amount during the 1st two weeks of the promotion, thus showcasing Africell’s commitment to offering greater opportunities.

With winners coming from every part of the country, the GSM operator is assuring Gambians and loyal subscribers that this is just the tip of the ice bag for the year 2012, in the sense that they have more to offer.

According to Africell officials, the company’s mission of quality, reliable and accessible telecommunication services remain unchanged and as such, the leading GSM network will indeed continue to upholds its objectives and overwhelm Gambians with exceptional products and services.

Winners’ reactions

Abubacarr Bah of Foni Bullock said he was just sitting when he received a call from Africell that he won D500, 000, which to him came as a ‘dream’. “I am very grateful to Africell because this will greatly help in changing my life,” he stated, adding that he will use the money to get a compound and also marry a wife. “I was expecting this from Africell but not at this time,” the happy looking Fula man told viewers, while calling on the public to subscribe to Africell.

On his part, Omar Sarr, an 18-year-old-boy and student from Mbolet-Bah village who also received a cheque of D250, 000 said he will use the money to support his family and his education. He acknowledged that Africell has indeed brought a change to his life, saying that he never expected that he would win such a huge sum of money by just recharging D25 credit. He called on the people to subscribe to Africell in order to benefit from the unbeatable services and promotion the GSM operator is bringing to their customers.

Fatou Sanyang, the 15-year-old-girl who received a cheque of D100, 000 expressed her heartfelt joy, saying it could not have come at a better time than now. She said the money will greatly assist her family to solve their financial problems. She thanked Africell for the gesture, saying that she has always been an Africell subscriber. She also urged others to join the Africell family and enjoy the benefits.

Speaking during the presentation ceremony, Peter Braima said the company has more surprising packages to offer to its customers in this 2012. He thanked their customers for the patronage and loyalty, while congratulating all those who won during the course of the promotion.
