Imam Tafsir Gaye of Banjul has described the 4th annual Gamo of Ahlu Tivaoune, under the leadership of Serigne Mbye Sy Mansour held in The Gambia on the 20th of January 2012, as successful.

Speaking in an interview with the Daily Observer, Imam Tafsir Gaye said Serigne Mbye Sy Mansour represented the Khalifa General of Tivaoune, Serign Mansour Sy ‘Borom Daraji’; Cheikh Ahmed Tijan Sy Maktoum; Serign Abdul Aziz Sy Al-Amin; the spokesperson, Serign Mawdo Malick Sy; Serign Mam Ousman Sy and their family members.

According to him, Serign Mbye Sy’s trip to The Gambia is always meant to bring the disciples (Talibes) to be united to know about the Tariqha (Tijanniya), to be under one family as well as to know how to worship Allah and follow the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

“His delegation comprises of about 400 people from Senegal, Europe and America. The Grand Marabout and entourage were welcomed on arrival by Alhaji M.I Jallow, president Federation Ahlu Tivaoune, vice president of the organization, Alhaji Dodou Bah, secretary general Alhaji Mam Burama Sarr (Kofi Annan) and myself Imam Alhaji Tafsir Gaye, Serign of the Federation and representative of Khalifa General de Tijan in The Gambia,” he explained.

Imam Gaye said that Serigne Mbye in his speech thanked the chief patron of the occasion, His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya AJJ Jammeh, president of the Republic of The Gambia for the respect he has for all the religions in The Gambia, and for giving them freedom of worship. He said Serign Mbye also congratulated the president for his re-election as President of the Republic of The Gambia and prayed for Allah to guide him, so that he can fulfill all his dreams for The Gambia.

“He thanked the mayor of Banjul, Alhaji Samba Faal for facilitating all that was needed to make the Mawlud successful on the directives of His Excellency the President of the Republic. He thanked all the religious leaders and the entire country for contributing in cash or kind to make the Mawlud successful. He prayed for peace to prevail both in Senegal and The Gambia, and peace to also prevail in the whole world,” Imam Gaye concluded.
