Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamat assists NBR disaster victims

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamat on Monday, presented 75 bags of rice valued D48,750  to disaster victims in North Bank Region.

The gesture is in response to the request make by the Regional Disaster Management Committee to support disaster victims who are in dire need. The governor of North Bank Region  Alh. Eduwarr Seckan, commended the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamat for complementing government's efforts in providing humanitarian services to affected families and individuals. He said the donation of the food items would greatly enhance the participation of victims in food production and contribute to improve the livelihood of their families. He used the opportunity to call on other institutions and organizations to support the Regional Disaster Management Committee in the mobilization of resources in kind and cash so as enable them to effectively respond to any magnitude of disasters and to alleviate the plight of victims.

Chief Fafanding Kinteh of Lower Baddibu and the chief executive officer of Kerewan Area Council,Tamba Kinteh,  applauded the timely intervention by the Jamat in donating food items and physically assisting the committee in the distribution of rice to victims across the region. They urged the Jamat to continue supporting the committee in the establishment of warehouses with food and other items with the objective of providing assistance to victims all year round. Chief Fafanding Kinteh commend the Jamat for the giant stride in complementing government's efforts in education, health and provision of safe drinking water  the needy.

The deputy Amir of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamat, Numu K Trawally, and Kawsu Kinteh of Humanity Trust, underscored the importance the Jamaat attached to helping people in all sectors of  national development, notably during    flood disaster. They also thanksed the governor and the Regional Disaster Management Committee for their steadfastness in the assessment of flood victims and for developing comprehensive data on the level of disasters. On behalf of the Jamaat, the Amir extended sympathy to the affected families noting that the gesture is in line with the teaching of the holy books; to give support to people who are in desperate condition. He assured the Jamaat's continuous support s to the affected families across the country.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Kebba Samusa applauded the Ahmadiyya Muslim Agency for bringing hope to some affected families, in providing them with food. He assured that they would uphold to the advice to desist from putting structures on waterways.
