ALBS holds speech and prize giving ceremony

Albion Lower Basic School (ALBS), on Friday held their speech and prize giving ceremony held at the school ground in Banjul.

In her welcoming remarks, Mrs Elizabeth Chapman, the head mistress of the school stated that in the, the children are encourage to stay for re-enforcement studies after school. Noting that Continuous progress is being made on the academic performance of the pupils.

According to Madam Chapman, they have a cluster monitor from regional education directorate attached to the school to enable them for their monthly test and they also conduct terminal exams to check the children's academic performance. The headmistress of the school further appealed to parents to continue to ensure that their children are always regular, punctual, clean and tidy before coming to school. She added that, their students work very hard to excel and gain class promotion.

For her part, Matilda Johnson, chairperson of the school management committee at Methodist urged students to respect their parents and teachers. She said caporal punishment has now come down, and children have so many rights, noting, they should not abuse their rights because it goes with responsibilities.

According to her, parents have to many responsibilities towards their children to protect, guide and give them meaningful life. "And parents should be a good role model to their children", she concluded. The deputy Head boy Abubacarr Bah delivered the vote of thanks.
