Editor,

Congratulations, Your Excellency, Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya AJJ Jammeh.  Everyone in The Gambia should wish you a very happy birthday and many more happy ones to come. Your great and excellent work is highly appreciated by everyone in the country. There are some people who are very calm and moderate. They are not making a lot of noise. They are not part of the crowd but they love you very dearly and are very sincere and loyal to you.

May you live long enough; remain as our head of state, in perfect good health and prosperity. May you remain to see your dreams and wishes come true with great pride and satisfaction for the benefit of every Gambian. Your intervention was more than timely.  If you had delayed a little, only Allah knows what would have become of The Gambia and the people. We were gradually getting into a huge hole and be doomed forever and ever.

All Gambians jubilated on that historic day of 22nd July, 1994.  You drastically reduced the anxiety and brought to normalcy the high blood pressures. You are indeed our saviour. I believe that you were inspired and guided by Allah the Almighty to come to our rescue. Just imagine the remarkable and recognisable changes and developments you have brought about within this short period of time. There is no doubt that our former head of state, Sir Alhaji Dawda K Jawara had no problem. He had great plans just like you for The Gambia, but unfortunately his lentenants betrayed him.

I wish to salute you again for the way you have treated him as your father and the father of the nation.  There is no retired head of state in the whole world who has been treated so kindly, so respectfully and so considerably. Allah will always reward you and be with you and your family. You will never, by the grace of Allah, be humiliated.

Your Excellency, there is no more hunger, no more thirst, everything for our comfort is available in the markets and in the shops for every Gambian and non-Gambian living in our country. You have shown that you are a man of power and light. There is power and light everywhere in the country. We lost this comfort since October 1977. Every genuine Gambian would wish to relate to you and associate with you. We must all recognise your efforts and speak out. You should be relieved of that task. Leave it to us. The deaf and dumb can see. The blind can touch and feel. If people outside of The Gambia, non-Gambians for that matter, appreciate you what are we waiting for? You have shown in many ways that you wish to unite our people.

Therefore, Mr President, I appeal to the opposition leaders, to take time out and take a break. Let them put aside the political differences and offer their services to you. I can see that happening soon. I know they have something to offer. Your Excellency, I crown you as one of the best heads of state in the world. Of course you are not perfect. We all observe that you are always doing things by the will of Allah and you always begin and end by the grace of the Almighty Allah.

In fact, is there anyone who is perfect, except Allah?
If I would grade you on percentage basis, you will for now be above eighty percent (80%). I will reserve the balance. Greater changes are effected. I know that some heads of state in Africa and elsewhere are copying some of your ways. They may not admit it but it is a fact. Those who have not, it is simply the situation of the fox and the grapes.

May you always sleep with Allah, wake up with Allah and go through all your days with Allah. Once again, congratulations, congratulations, congratulations. A citizen, a sympathiser and a strong supporter who wish to remain anonymous
