Alleged witch murderer case continues

The criminal trial of Lamin Faye resumed on Wednesday, September  16, 2009 before   Justice  Moses  Richards of  the  Special Criminal Court in  Banjul.   

The accused is alleged to have murdered one Mustapha Jammeh  by stabbing him with a knife on  June 12, 2009  in  Gunjur village, Kombo  South  district of  Western Region. Testifying before the court,  Police Prosecutor Lamin Dampha of the Major Crime  Unit in  Banjul  police  headquarters , said he  came to know the accused on  June 15, 2009 whilst he was on duty when he received a case file together with the accused  from one Inspector Jarjue of  the Gunjur Police  Station.

The witness said the accused case file was  assigned  to him and when he  perused the file, he later confronted the accused and made statements. The witness further said during interrogation, the accused told him that the deceased followed him spiritually, he reported the matter to Gunjur Police Station and the deceased was  called by the police  and warned ;but the following day the deceased was again following him. He then  decided to attack and stab the deceased with a knife and then reported himself to the police.
