Allunhari rape case transferred to Basse High CourtThursday, August 16, 2012 The rape case involving one Omar Camara, a 30-year-old man and a resident of Basse, has been transferred to the Basse High Court. Camara was earlier remanded at the Janjangbureh prison for allegedly raping a 14-year-old Arabic student (name withheld) at Allunhari village, in the Fulladou East District of the Upper River Region, on 25th June 2012. When the case was mentioned on Monday at Basse Magistrates’ Court, Magistrate Jabang ordered for the transfer of the case to the Basse High Court, in view of the fact that his court lacks the jurisdiction to try the case. The particulars of the offence stated that Omar Camara, on or about 25th June, 2012 in Allunhari village, unlawfully had a carnal knowledge of an underage girl without her consent, thereby committed an offence.
