president, Pamela Ann explained that she came to say good-bye to the Gambia’s
No 2, saying it was something very hard to do. Her words: She is just a wonderful role model for me, for
all the women in The Gambia and Africa. She is intelligent and a well-spoken
person who cares deeply about development and I want to say personally to her
good-by because she is just a fantastic person.” The US diplomat dilated on the bilateral relationship between The Gambia and the United States, saying it is now much closer than it was. She also described her personal relation with the Gambian leader as very close, saying they always talk very frankly to each other. She pointed out that the US has been able to get certain training programmes in the country ranging from military to sports and journalism, among others. Ambassador White also disclosed that just last Monday, the United States endorsed the sum of D500, 000 for The Gambia, adding that they are still looking for more for the country.Shefinally described The Gambia as a beautiful country and expressed optimism that the country would become a star country the way it is going.
