Another fatal accident at Latrikunda Sabiji

Another fatal accident involving a fourteen-seater van with registration number BJL 6976 D, yesterday, Tuesday, 8th September 2009 at around 8am claimed the life of a woman along Westfield/Tabokoto highway at Latrikunda Sabiji, near Galp Petrol Station.

According to eyewitnesses, the deceased (Saffiatou Nyassi), was trying to cross the road, going for work , when the van   knocked her down and dragged her to the middle of the road near one of the streetlight poles. Sources further revealed that the driver ( unknown) escaped and ran away.

Nato Jammeh, one of the eyewitnesses, said the deceased passed by her in the morning and greeted her, "later I had a noise and I ran to the scene, only to find out that it was the same person who passed by me. I saw her on the ground near the van.     She was taken  in a Taxi and was rushed to Fajikunda Health Centre for check-up," the eyewitness told the Daily Observer.  

The deceased was later taken to Fajikunda Health Centre, before being referred to the Royal Victoria Teaching Hospital (RVTH) in Banjul, where she was confirmed dead.

Accident at Tallinding
In a related development, another fourteen-seater van with registeration number BJL 9776C, also entered a house in one Sarr Kunda in Tallinding, while overspeeding.

Nobody was injured but properties in the house were all destroyed. According to an eyewitness, the incident happened few minutes after a baby sleeping in the room was moved out of the room.
