Thursday, July 09, 2009
One Abdoulie Gaye has filed an appeal before Justice Joseph Wowo of the High Court against his conviction and sentencing by the Brikama Magistrates Court.

The convict cum appellant was convicted on July 9, 2003, by the Brikama Magistrates Court on three counts of possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, possession of prohibited drugs and cultivation of cannabis plants. The appellant was convicted and sentenced to serve 14 years imprisonment.

In his notice of appeal, the convict contended that he was not guilty of the offence. Justice Wowo indicated on Wednesday July 8th, 2009, that the matter was once struck out but was later relisted. He then asked Principal State Counsel Merley Wood to ensure that all the modalities are put in place so that the case can be heard.
