APRC national mobiliser’s tourMonday, January 25, 2010 Editorial The newly appointed national mobiliser of the ruling Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction (APRC) party who also doubles as the mayor of the Kanifing Muncipal Council, Yankuba Colley, is currently on a nationwide familiarisation tour. The tour is significant in that it will accord our rural communities the opportunity to meet for the first time the new national mobiliser as well as be updated on the state of the country’s socio-economic development. Such an initiative by the APRC is an indication that the party is people-oriented. It is the only political party that puts the masses at the centre of its advocacy, having the foresight to be frequently going to the grassroots to dialogue with the masses. Daily Observer has been monitoring the tour and analysing the situation on the ground. The massive turnout of the people to welcome the new mobiliser and the comments they are making clearly indicate that come 2011, the APRC will sweep the polls. We all know that the APRC party has been at the forefont of the country’s politics for the past 15 years; it is the part that shaped the beginning of a new beginning in our struggle for self-determination, progress, peace and prosperity. It is the party that gave birth to a new Gambia, a Gambia on the path of development. It is the APRC party and its leadership that provided us with high-class road networks, good electricity and water supply, modern hospitals, accessible and quality education, and a host of other developments that space will not permit us to mention here. Besides, ever since the birth of a new Gambia, the APRC party and leadership have advanced greatly in fulfilling the needs and aspirations of the people. The party is also not relenting in its effort towards promoting a progressive nation by creating avenues that permit the empowerment of the citizenry in all aspects. It is these and other realities that are speaking for themselves thereby propelling the ever-increasing popularity of the APRC party among the people. Today, it is only the APRC party that has political structures in every hamlet in the country. It is evident that the absence of unity, trust and a clear positive agenda for the country has made the other so-called parties to annihilate themselves. The truth is blatant; Gambians need political parties that are action-oriented and can ensure the speedy advancement of society and not parties bent on abstract philosophies that are empty in practice. The APRC party and government since coming into power have demonstrated that they are servants of the people and since then have not departed from that mission; this clearly explains why the people continue to show allegiance to the party. As the tour of the national mobiliser of the party continues; we hope that more people will realise that only the APRC party is putting the interest of the people as their utmost priority and it is the only party committed to the development of this country. Daily Observer will continue to monitor the tour and update the people on its progress. | Media Actions See Also |
