Armed robbers strike in PanchangTuesday, April 03, 2012 Armed men on Saturday night robbed a shop in Panchang village in the Upper Saloum District of the Central River Region (CRR). Two men, Mbarakan Njie, a watchman; and one Ali Njie were wounded by the hoodlums and are currently admitted at the RVTH in Banjul. Narrating
the incident to the Daily Observer, Saikou Sambou, the Panchang Ward Councilor
said it happened around 1am. According
to him, the robbers attacked the shop of one Alpha Omar Bah and stole his
money. He said the hoodlums fired two shots and wounded the watchman. “When Ali Njie heard the gunshots, he came out to find out what was going on and he too was suddenly shot. The armed robbers destroyed the safe and absconded with one million CFA from the shop. They also went away with 20,000 CFA, D2, 000 and a mobile phone from one Sheikh Jobe,” Samba further disclosed.
