Arts exhibition at AFGThursday, February 25, 2010 As mentioned in series of the previous editions, the world of arts and culture is up and running on its feet in the country. The native artists and other visiting artists are utilising the benefits of the arts industry of the country, which is in line with the development blue prints of the country, under the visionary and dynamic leadership of President Jammeh. The latest arts exhibition is currently taking place at the Alliance Franco Gambienne, from the 8th of February to 6th of March 2010, along the Kairaba Avenue. It is organised by Yuspalkala, a renowned Nigerian artist based in the country for quite some years now. The theme of the exhibition is "Tukki Guiss", meaning travel and see for yourself what the world of arts and culture has in store for you. Yuspalkala, in a chat with the Arts and Culture, spoke about the exhibition, its expected impact on the arts industry of the country and his plans towards the development of the industry at both local and international level. The exhibited items were spread all over the premises of Alliance Franco Gambinne for public inspection. According to Yuspalkala, the exhibition is divided into series of segments such as training workshop for both school children and all those armed with the necessary potentials to explore the world of arts and culture in the 21st century with specific reference to the contemporary arts. He revealed plans to organise a sub-regional arts exhibition at the same venue some time in the late part of the year 2010. This exhibition, he further remarked, will bring both local and international artists to join hands for the development of the arts industry. The Nigerian artist took the opportunity to register his sincere appreciation and gratitude to the Nigerian High Commissioner to The Gambia, for her continuous support and all the sponsors, which include Comium and the Banjul Breweries companies towards the development of arts and culture in The Gambia and beyond.
