ASSET prepares for fundraising event

Africa » Gambia
Wednesday, October 21, 2009
The Association of Small Scale Enterprise in Tourism (ASSET) in support of product development in the areas of arts and craft in The Gambia, is currently preparing to organize a grand fundraising event, geared towards supporting the association in its drive  towards  partnership with institutions.

In an interview with the Daily Observer, Badou Bobb, development officer at ASSET, said the fundraising event would be held on 24 October 2009 at Kairaba Beach Hotel. According to him, since 2005, they have ASSET showcase programmes, adding that they used to feature members' products and services that have grown and enabled ASSET to partner with an organization in Dakar, Senegal called "Omits".

According to him, with this partnership, they try to promote members in the sub-region, which enabled them to come up  with an initiative called "Mboka". He added that the main essence of this fundraising is to promote craft products to be more creative in a way that it can add value and increase guests coming to the country.

For his part, Momodou Ndimballan, marketing officer at ASSET, who is also a member of the fundraising committee, spoke at length on the reason for organising the fundraising. He said ASSET would partner  with  Ebunjan Theatre Troupe, a youth group in performing arts and craft, adding that it would be an annual event from now on. Ndimballan called on the general public to come and support the young talented Gambians.
