BAC equips revenue collectors![]() Tuesday, June 19, 2012 In its quest to boost and ease revenue collection in the West Coast Region, the management of the Brikama Area Council (BAC) Friday handed over eight brand new motorbikes to its revenue collectors. The motorbikes that were handed over at the Council’s chambers in Brikama were purchased at the tune of D280, 000. Speaking at the ocassion, the minister of Regional Administrations, Lands and Traditional Rulers, Lamin Waa Juwara, described Council’s move as an investment in the right direction, which he said should be emulated by others. He expressed hope that with the provision of the motorbikes, the revenue collectors would be more willing and motivated to boost the Council’s revenue collection. While urging the district chiefs to always endeavour to complement the efforts of the Council in the collection of revenue from the local communities, Minister Juwara enjoined the management of the Council to use the law to recover arrears. He also assured the Council of his Ministry’s continuous support, and challenged them to continue to strive for the betterment of the communities. “We expect that the motorbikes will boost the morale of the revenue collectors and maximise revenue collections,” the chairman of the Council, Sunkary Badjie stated. While expressing delight over the procurement of the motorbikes, the BAC boss called on the collectors to ensure maximum care and ownership. The Governor of the West Coast Region,
Lamin Sanneh applauded the Council for the initiative and also expressed hope
that the motorbikes would boost the performance of the beneficiaries. Governor Sanneh
commended the council for supporting local communities and urged the collectors
to make good use of the motorbikes to maximise revenue collection for the
