Badala Nursery School inaugurated

Africa » Gambia
Wednesday, December 02, 2009
Badala Nursery School in Faji kunda Durmous was recently inaugurated by Ben and Ans Schepers, philanthropists from Holland at a ceremony held at Fajikunda.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Modou Lamin Badjie, councillor of New Jeshwang Ward, who deputised for  the Mayor of Kanifing, Yankuba Colley, said education is divine and that, it is the foundation upon which our civility and consciousness is established. “In establishing this nursery school therefore, you are developing the mind frame of children  in this catchment area which is very much in line with the universal principle of early childhood education and development,” he noted. “The Gambia government under the leadership of His Excellency the President, has invested enormously in the education sector to provide equality, accessible and affordable for all,” he said. “Not withstanding, we are growing rapidly as a nation and there is no way the government alone can cater for the educational needs of all Gambians,” he noted.

He thanked the donor: Ben and Ans Schepers for sponsoring the construction of the school. Councillor Badjie called on the administration and staff of the school to maintain standards, adding that what children see and learn at this stage of their infancy bears lasting legacies on their adulthood. The philanthropists all expressed delight at sponsoring the construction of the school and promised to continue helping the school. The chairman of the school, Ebrima Ceesay and Lamin Marong expressed similar sentiments.
