Africa » Gambia
Monday, September 06, 2010
Badingbung, a child-friendly association based in the Kombos, recently donated some cash amounting to D5, 000 and 20 bags of 50kg rice worth over D14,000 to Muhammed Musa Jarjusey Memorising Islamic Boarding School at Batokunku in Kombo South District of Western Region.  The donated items were handed over to the principal of the school by the chairman of the association, Abdoulie Sanyang.

Speaking at the presentation, Chairman AbdoulieSanyang said they donated the items solely to promote Islam in the country. He informed that the money spent on the donated items came from their own pocket and that the association adopts Muhammed Musa Jarjusey Memorisisng Islamic Boarding School as their own institution.

On receiving the items, the principal, Jarjusey, thanked the members of Badingbung Association for their foresight in donating what he described as wonderful gifts to his institution, noting that  the donated items and cash given to the school came at the right time; when his school is really in dire need. He prayed to the Almighty Allah to shower his blessings on them.

The principal took the opportunity to inform the donors that the school started Quranic memorisiation in 2003 with students from all parts of the country and in the sub-region. At present, he notified, some 60 students are staying in the school while 20 students are commuting on a daily basis.
