Bakau zonal team coach Buba Minteh has praised the efforts of Bakau football fans during the just concluded zonal football champions - now called Muhammeh Yahya Jammeh Zonal Cup.

Coach Minteh successfully guided Bakau to a back-to-back title last weekend after beating zonal rivals Banjul 2-1 in the final. As he reflects on the sweet victory, Minteh admits the contribution of the  fans was pivotal.

"The fans have been there from the start to the end and their contribution  was priceless. I would thank them and hope that they will again join us next year as we look for a hat-trick of zonal trophy," Minteh told Observer Sports. The youthful coach also hailed the collaboration of his technical team, more specially the veteran player Abdoulie Bojang and Gambia's Russian export Abdou Jammeh, who were only drafted in during the middle of the competition to help rescue the team that had a devastating start at the group stage.

"The success was as a result of a great team-work and everyone, including the players ad the sports committee must be commended for job well done," he said. In conclusion, elated Minteh hailed the sports-loving Gambian leader for sponsoring this year's championship, which he described as the "best-ever tournament" in zonal football history".
