Bakau elects new sports committee

Africa » Gambia
Tuesday, June 23, 2009
Nawettan teams in Bakau have elected into office a ten-man sports committee that will steer the affairs of Bakau football for another four years.

The new committee was unveiled on Saturday, June 20, replacing the interim team whose one year-tenure elapsed recently. Seven of the ten elected members had all served in the interim team whose one-year term was hailed as successful by Bakau nawettan clubs. The interim team chief, Abdoulie Hadda Bangura, was retained as the president of the new committee, while Sulayman Junkung Drammeh and Bakary B Darboe all retained their positions as first and second vice presidents respectively.

Masanneh Jammeh was elected as the secretary general, while Pa Alieu Ceesay was named as his assistant.  Dawda Barrow was also retained as the treasurer, while Sanna Jarju, a member of the defunct committee, was named as his assistant. The position of auditor went to Kemo Ceesay, while Ebrima Eric Drammeh, who was very instrumental in the interim committe's success, was elected as the program officer.

Nanama Keita was retained as the public relations officer of the new team that will face a daunting task in not only rebuilding the present dilapidated Bakau mini-stadium, but also winning the hearts of many Bakauians whose interest and love for the game have been waning recently.
