Bakau teams plan new Nawettan Committee

Africa » Gambia
Tuesday, July 10, 2012

The Nawettan clubs in Bakau are hoping to form a new Nawettan Committee following a meeting on June 25th and 29th at the Independence Stadium. In attendance at the meeting were members and representatives of the competing Nawettan Clubs in the Zone.

The decision, according to the 19 out of the 24 Nawettan Teams that signed was necessary since “it has come to their notice that the present elected Nawettan Committee has not delivered as expected of them”.

According to the clubs, the Committee could not give appropriate final accounts of all the financial transactions during their term of office as required of them. They also claimed that Nawettan football clubs were paying registration fees; there was no receipt in place for accountability purposes, while the FA Nawettan Knockout final did not kick off due to financial reasons.

“Therefore, proposals have been tabled and agreed to form a new, well instituted Nawettan Committee where administrative matters would be done in a well organised and transparent atmosphere where Clubs would have an active role in the management of their own destiny in football. That Bakau should gain its glory both in our performance and football status.”

The present Bakau Committee was not available for comment at the time of going to press but their version will always be welcome at Observer Sports.
