Blind man, 25, seeks assistance

Africa » Gambia
Tuesday, July 14, 2009
Sulayman Sowe, a 25-year-old man from Sinchu Alagie, Kombo North, is seeking for assistance from the general public to help him with a commercial vehicle that will help him boost his living status.

Sowe is suffering from this difficulties for the past 15 years. In an interview with the Daily Observer yesterday, Sowe said he is currently facing lots of challenges in life.  He said "I am a blind man who is married to a blind woman so to gain my needs is another problem," he said. Acording to him, the only source of income to him and the wife is through begging on the streets, which is sometimes frustrating. "Sometimes people will give you money and sometimes they do not. So its so frustrating," he said". Sowe, the first son of his father - who passed away at a time when he  (Sowe)was very young, did not leave anything that he can inherit in life.

"My surviving mother, who have been supporting me since the death of my father, is no longer energetic to help me. So, I face many difficulties in life If I go out for begging, the mony I get from the streets, D500 goes for monthly rent. Mr Sowe said helping him in a commercial vehicle will go a long way in enabling him to solve his social need in life as he cannot even move without people's support. He then appealed to the public for assistance. Anyone who wishes to help Mr Sowe can call him on: 7834866 or contact the Daily Observer.
