Friday, July 03, 2009
The Brikama Area Council (BAC) yesterday, 2nd July, 2009, donated an amount of D25, 000.00 for the completion of the Brikama mortuary project.

The cheque for the amount was handed over to Ebou Badjie, an executive member of the ex-pupils' association of Brikama primary school, at the office of the BAC chairman. In his opening remarks, Momodou Jallow, the chief executive officer of BAC, said the presentation of the cheque by his council follows a request made by the said association. CEO Jallow also expressed delight to be associated with the first ever Brikama mortuary project.

Lamin Sanneh, the governor of the Western Region, also commended the council for their contribution and said when completed, the mortuary will be of great benefit to the communities of his region. He described the council as a partner in national development and hoped that the money will be put to good use.

The regional governor further called on the communities to pay their taxes to the council for timely delivery of services. Sunkaru Badjie, the chairman of the BAC, noted that the council is committed to ploughing back the revenue collected from communities in the form of services. Ebou Badjie, on behalf of his association, commended the BAC for their timely gesture and said the money will go a long way in enhancing the speedy completion of the mortuary project.

He indicated that the mortuary will be handed over to the council upon completion. The presentation ceremony was attended by the paramount chief, other council staff and members of the beneficiary association.
