Tuesday, May 15, 2012

The Brikama Youth and Sports Committee on Sunday organised a football match between between Brikama United and Lamin United in honour of the famous Senegalese wrestler Balla Gaye II at the Box Bar mini-stadium.

Balla Gaye took the kick-off for the game which ended in a goalless draw following 30 minutes of pulsating football. Both teams played passionately to score a goal as well as impress Balla, with Brikama United having a chance to break the deadlock after only five minutes, but Bully Drammeh missed a golden chance.

Lamin United’s Ebrima Bojang could have capitalised on a one-on-one chance in the 13th minute of the game but the Brikama goalkeeper was quick enough to avert the danger as both sides went into the break goalless. There was also no goal in the second half.

Speaking after the match, the first vice president of Brikama Youth and Sports Committee, Pa Ansu Nyass thanked God for the success of the match. He said that they had invited Balla Gaye to grace the match as well as thrill his fans with a face-to-face appearance.

He added that the match was also a fundraiser towards the development of Box Bar mini-stadium. He concluded by thanking the president of the Committee, Basiru Bajo, as well as Jaliba Kuyateh and entourage.
