Brikama to host Brikstone Fiesta

As preparation intensifies ahead of the first ever mega musical splash dubbed ‘Brikstone Fiesta’ to be held in Brikama Town, the organisers of this mega international event are currently devising strategies to make this event a resounding success.

The event which is slated for February 17th and 18th, 2010, will no doubt witness yet another fun-filled musical explosions from the country’s finest stars, both local and foreign-based. As history is about to unfold, it is believed that the involvement of  these outstanding stars will mark another significant milestone in the country’s music sector.

The event, which is basically meant to propel the country’s image to international spectrum, is also geared towards promoting the country’s cultural talents to other international level. Considering the importance such international forum plays, the organisers intend to make it an annual event  in a drive to sell the country’s huge cultural diversity to international spotlight. “Basically the aims and objectives of the event is to raise funds for the Brikama Health Centre, in its quest to provide health service delivery to communities in the region,” said SM Sanyang, the chief executive officer of Badiyaa Production and Promotion who also double as the piooneers of the event.

Exclusively organized by Badiyaa Production and Promotion in colloboration with The Gambian music promoters based in Glasgow, United Kingdom, other local partners like the Hook On Movement, Frontline Crew and the Kaira Band, all based in Brikama, the highlights of the event will be the inclusion of all types of music genres ranging from traditional hits, reggae dancehall, and rap to other types of music segments. “The event’s aims and objectives  CEO Sanyang continued, “are to raise funds for Brikama Health Centre, to make the event an annual event as other international festivals like Sun flash in Jamaica. It will also give a common platform to local and international artists so as to uplift The Gambian music and artists to higher heights. This will enable us to create a gateway for our local and international artists in terms of international exposure to other international promoters and producers,” he stated.

Artists in the house:
Artists expected to grace the event are: The Gambia’s Germany-based reggae genius, Rebellion D’Recaller, Pabobo Jobarteh, Dr Olugander, Jalex aka Akuntu, and the Gambia’s reggae dancehall giant of recent years Sing-A-teh among others.
