Brikamaba, Janjangbureh communities embark on cleaning exercise

Over 500 people from the communities of Brikamaba and Janjangbureh recently embarked on a massive cleaning exercise in Brikamaba and surrounding areas in CRR.

Speaking to this reporter shortly after the exercise, the chairperson of Janjangbureh Area Council, Alhaji Kekuta Ceesay, explained that it is part of the clarion call of President Jammeh. He urged people to take operation clean the nation seriously as a healthy population is the bedrock of any meaningful socio-economic development. For his part, Fafanding Kinteh, the NEA regional programme officer in CRR, spoke on the need to keep the environment clean. He called on the community of Janjangbureh to change their attitudes on waste control and management and to avoid indiscriminate waste dumping. He further reminded the people about the anti-littering Law, noting that the community should be sensitised about it.

Chief Bakary Jam Jawo of Janjangbureh and Chief Momodou Lamin Baldeh of Lower Fulladu, all applauded the people for their high turn out in the set-settal, and urged them to further strengthen their unity and cooperation. According to them, this will contribute immensely in reducing malaria cases in the region. They expressed their appreciation to the communities in making their environment clean.

The president of Senegalese nationals in Brikamaba, Matarr Njie whose society took part in  the excercise said they are part of the community and should participate in any activity that will bring development to the area. He noted that clean environment will improve the quality of lives and urged the people to make their environment clean. Other speakers included Ebrima Janko Foon, Fatou Trawally and Mariama Manneh.
