Tuesday, February 28, 2012

British couple, Ryan Kelley and Sylvia Kelley, trustees of Whitmore Trust UK Charity, on Friday, through the facilitation of the Methodist Church in The Gambia, donated school materials and medications to the Methodist Dental Clinic, villages and schools in Basse, Upper River Region, as part of their efforts to helping communities in The Gambia.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony held at the Wesley Basic Cycle School, Ryan Kelley informed that they have been coming to The Gambia for the past 28 years, assisting schools with the materials they collect from the UK schools. He said the educational materials collected were given to them by some of the schools in the UK to assist schools in The Gambia.

Kelly furhter informed that since they started supporting Gambian communities and schools, they were able to bring 31 containers to Africa, out of which The Gambia has benefited from 25 containers and Sierra Leone received six containers.

Deputising for the minister of Basic and Secondary Education at the occasion, Ansumana Demba thanked the donors for the good gesture, noting that the materials donated will enhance the educational needs of Gambian children.

The ceremony was chaired by Jonathan Good.
