Bundung murder case continues

Africa » Gambia
Monday, October 12, 2009
The criminal trial of Bakary Daffeh, a resident of Bundung accused of murdering his sister, Kumba Daffeh, with an iron rod on June 29, 2009 in Bundung, resumed last Thursday, October 8, 2009 before Justice Moses Richards of the Special criminal court in Banjul.

Testifying before the court, a police detective, Yorro Saidy, told the court that he came to know the accused when he was transferred from the Bundung police station to the Major Crime Unit at the Police Headquarters in Banjul. The witness disclosed that the accused was accompanied by an iron rod (one metre in length with pointed edges).

Saidy revealed that the accused admitted having committed the alleged crime. The witness said on July 2, 2009, a request for a post mortem examination was made and was eventually carried out on the deceased by Dr Abdoulie Ceesay at the RVTH in Banjul. The post mortem report was issued, the witness added. Hearing continues on October 20, 2009.
