Busura student crowned wrestling champion

Abdou Badjie, a pupil of the Busura Lower Basic School in the Kombo East District was recently crowned champion of the national traditional wrestling competition which was organised by the SOS Childrens Village in Bakoteh. The school last week organised a victory celebration to honour their pupil.


Speaking during the occasion, Kalilou Colley, headmaster of the school thanked the parents of the boy for giving him the opportunity to participate in such a wonderful competition. He said he was always confident that Abdou was going to win the competition.


Alieu Faye, the alkalo of the village expressed his delight with the victory and said it will take the name of Busura village to a higher level.''Busura is a great village and will always continue to do great for this country,'' he added.


Edmee Wright, who represented the national director of SOS, Madam Oumou Tall said that Badjie deserved to be champion because he is talented. She thanked President Jammeh, MOHSW, MOBSE, their sponsors, partners and co-workers for their contribution towards the success of the competition.


Abdou Badjie, a Grade Four pupil was awarded a scholarship for his Upper Basic School education by the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education as a reward for his outstanding performance.
