Careless driver sentenced

One Modou Lamin Touray was on Thursday sentenced to a fine of D2000 in default to serve two years imprisonment by Magistrate BO Jobe of the Bundung Magistrates Court.

According to the facts, on 10 April 2008 near the Tabokoto traffic lights, Modou Lamin Touray drove a commercial motor vehicle with registration number BJL 1592 E without care and attention, which led to an accident.

He was also charged with carrying 18 passengers when he knew that his driving licence is Group C - meant to carry only 14 passengers.
In his judgement, on count one, Magistrate BO Jobe sentenced the accused person to a fine of D1000 in default to serve a 1-year imprisonment term.

On count two, he was sentenced to a fine of D1000 in default to serve another 1-year term.  All sentences shall run concurrently. Sergeant Kujabie represented the IGP.
