Chief Justice Savage removed![]() Tuesday, June 09, 2009 According to a press release from the Office of the secretary general, State House, Abdou Karim Savage has been replaced as Chief Justice of The Gambia. The full text of the release is reproduced below. His Excellency the president of the Republic of The Gambia, Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya AJJ Jammeh, acting under the provisions of Section 141, Sub Section 2 (c) of the Constitution of the Republic of The Gambia, has decided to terminate the appointment of Mr Abdou Karim Savage as Chief Justice of the Republic of The Gambia with immediate effect. His Excellency the president has also in exercise of the powers conferred upon him under Section 138 Subsections (1) and (2) of the Constitution of the Republic of The Gambia, appointed: a) Justice Emmanuel A Agim, president of the Gambia Court of Appeal, to the position of Chief Justice of The Republic of The Gambia with immediate effect and; b) Mrs Esther Awo Ola as president of The Gambia Court of Appeal.
