Children's court, industrial tribunal change venue

Africa » Gambia
Monday, August 10, 2009
The Kanifing Children's Court will from henceforth be holding its sessions at the Kanifing Magistrates Court premises, judicial sources have informed Legal Matters.

The Kanifing Childrens Court was previously holding its sessions at the Bundung Magistrates Court premises. The children's court deals with criminal matters involving youths under the age of 18 years.

Legal Matters has also reliably learnt that the Kanifing Industrial Tribunal will from henceforth be holding its sessions at the Bundung Magistrates Court premises instead of the the Kanifing Magistrates Court premises.

No reason was advanced for the change of venue but judicial sources revealed that the change of venue was part of a restructuring process of the Gambian judiciary.
