CHN Foundation embarks on cleaning in Latrikunda

Africa » Gambia
Tuesday, July 03, 2012

The Compassionate Heart for The Needy Foundation (CHNF), a charitable non-governmental organisation, on Saturday embarked on a massive clean-up exercise in Latrikunda, an initiative that enhanced good sanitary environment condition for the beneficiary community. The volunteers cleaned some public areas in Latrikunda, including the market vicinity.

Speaking at the site, the ward councilor for Latrikunda Sabiji, Ousman Fatty, commended the efforts of the members of the Foundation, describing their initiative as a good move and timely, given that it was done at the beginning of the rainy season. He disclosed that members of the Foundation comprised of Gambians and some foreigners who are running businesses in Tallinding and Latrikunda.

Fatty acknowledged that this is the first time that a group of such came out to clean public outlets to enhance good environmental sanitation. He then enjoined them to continue working for the development of the country.

The president of the Foundation, Alex O. Williams, for his part, said his organisation’s aim is to bring smiles to the faces of the less-privileged people in The Gambia. Williams expressed the Foundation’s gratitude to those individuals who supplied them the materials for the exercise.
